Debrief 001 | [Action/Voice] | Déjà vu?

[Coulson wakes up, trees to his left and right and a path right in front of him. A short distance down the path and to the right he can see a house, actually he can see a few houses from where he is. Everything seems familiar.

The sensation of familiarity is disquieting at first, until everything comes back.

Well... that explains a lot.

Coulson looks around and spots his journal, but sadly there are no clothes this time. So he's stuck in the usual new feather garb of white pants. After being in dark suits for most of his life, he's not sure he likes those pants. With the nice new scar on his chest and back, he's not sure he likes the fact he's shirtless. Also, there is a chill in the air which makes being shirtless very uncomfortable.

Using the mountains and the river, both to his left, he manages to orient himself. With this knowledge he heads towards town center to visit the clothing shop and get dressed. You may run into him a he heads to the clothing shop. Feel free to notice the fresh looking scar almost directly over his heart (but not actually) and the bigger one on his back. Coulson may greet you, but mainly he's focusing on getting to the clothing shop. Unless things happen.]

((ooc; Location is over by House 4, just a short distance up the path leading towards the farmlands.))

[After getting clothes and after whatever adventures happen while he was getting clothing, Coulson puts together a first new post to the Luceti community.]

Greetings Luceti.

My name is Phil Coulson. I have been here before a few months back before... leaving and it seems I have returned.

As far as I know I don't have any unfinished business from before, but If I did have some with you please remind me.

I have probably missed a lot, but is there anyone whose willing to give me a brief summary of things I've missed? I'd be grateful.

[Small pause.]

I think that's all... No wait, Rogue, do you still need help at the item shop? Sorry for leaving you in the lurch.

I'm not really, ah, teacher material I think, but thanks.

Uh. [Well that was an interesting conclusion.] Not exactly. [How to put this in a non-weird manner...?] I rather think they did it because the island of Manhattan was being destroyed by the aliens and a lot of people were getting hurt. I suppose the meaning behind the cards kick-started it, but I am sure they would have come together without the reminder of that sacrifice.

(ooc; Seriously I sat here giggling like a loon. The Avengers avenging Coulson ruined Captain America cards. /dies of laughter Best mental image ever! Thank you.)

[Coulson voice goes very dry]

Oh no, of course not. Heaven forbid I stay professional in the face of the man who stabbed me. Instead I shall seek revenge in a place where the dead come back to life and the badly injured can be healed.

[Moment of surprisingly unsubtle sarcasm from Coulson is gone and he's back to seriousness.]

The truce in place is more important than any one person. Especially considering it's fragile nature after what happened.

Besides Tony, I've already been avenged.

[Well. That logic hadn't stop Barton from trying it, but that was neither here nor there.

But color him touched. Even if, you know. He doesn't exactly say that.]

Even so. We're a team, and that includes you.

The best teachers never are teacher material!

Yeah, I guess that makes more sense. Superheroes do tend to do the right thing like that, at least in comics. Still sounds like a waste of some perfectly good cards, though.

I’m not sure how much else has changed. [At least, how much that she’s willing to talk about just then.] Rogue is still here, if she hasn’t contacted you herself already. I remember you were working with her in the Item Shop before.

You probably have a few interesting ones yourself.

Tell you what. We can meet in one of the bars sometime and swap war stories. Make a night of it.

I think we've got some ledgers in with the stationary stuff, if ya wanna take a look.

[She shook her head a little. Honestly, she didn't understand why he wanted to do this. But he was welcome to it.]

Absolutely! I think I shall keep it with an endearing giggle instead. Or an amused chuckle. Or a very cool combination of both.

I am not sure about that. Most evil villains are most involved in the act of mass murder, diabolical schemes and making sure that brave heroes will not save the day.

I'm sure I'll discover a few more changes as I get reacquainted with everything. It's not a big deal.

[Except it kinda is. Because as far as his memory is concerned almost no time has passed since he was here. There is Luceti before, a timeless moment of blackness again and then he's back. Like he went to sleep and everything change while he was asleep. But as with everything he'll deal with it on his own.]

Ah, yes I did. I expect she'll contact me in a bit, since she might be busy.

Not as many as you, I'm sure, but a few yes. [Blatant lies. Coulson has tones of amazing stories. And since Lupin isn't from his world, he could probably share a few of the more interesting ones that are drowned in red tape enough to strangle an elephant.]

That's not a bad idea. Could be fun.

[Coulson is a lucky man--Lupin would keep quiet on them even if he does become good friends with some of the other residents from Coulson's world.]

I'll look forward to it then. We'll see what happens, especially since the holidays are coming up. Lots of parties, you know the drill.

[Logic and Barton have a love-hate relationship.

Now Coulson is touched, even if he doesn't say it.]

...Be that as it may, the safety of the team is more important than a single member's revenge. But thanks.

It was. If my boss ever shows up here, well. [Coulson cuts himself off.] ...I'll have some words for him.

[It's because Coulson also has control issues. Inventory helps him take back control.]

That would be good. I'll go take a look.

[Coulson turns and heads over to where he remember where the stationary was.

After a moment he picks out a plain worn black leather ledger. It's very much like the ones he had back home. He flicks it open and idly looks at the inside and paper before pausing.

...It's exactly like the one he had back home in his desk. Only unused. Okay, chalk that up to this place being weird as hell.]

...The minute I think I'm used to this place... [It's a quiet mutter but Rogue could possibly overhear.]

Better than stepping on me...

[Phil steps closer and reaches out carefully. Once assured Hamal isn't going to bite or get nervous he starts to pet the Bantha.

It's a unique feeling, not quite like any other animal Phil's had contact with. He grins slightly, the barest upturning of his lips and relaxes slightly, instead paying attention to how Hamal reacts and finding spot which make the Bantha happy.]

Good boy.

Ya realize you've made a terrible mistake?

[They both know better, but Pepper isn't about to bring the truth they're so aware of out into the open. They both need the time that willful denial will bring.]

Probably. And I'm sure you still have a whole list of things to take care of yourself, so I'll leave you to it. Let me know if I can help?

[Isn't that the truth...]

I will. Thanks Pepper. [For telling him about Loki and, well, for a lot of things.]

[At Clint's last comment Phil frowns sharply.]

That's not what- [Phil cuts himself off then sighs before crouching down in front of Clint, ignoring the protest of aging knees. He looks up at Clint, expression serous but soft at the edges.]

Not here you don't. I won't say that it wouldn't be a fight with SHIELD to keep you employed if you were seriously injured enough you might not shoot again, because well... that'd be a lie. But this is not SHIELD.

[Phil sighs again, looking tired.]

For better or worse... this isn't SHIELD.

[He blinks when Coulson kneels, watching him with a certain amount of trepidation. He gives a soft snort, because he's pretty sure that SHIELD would ditch him the minute he wasn't useful. Maybe not Fury directly, but the Council had pressure, there were budgets to balance and after this whole thing with Loki... he'd be more useful as a scapegoat than a broken sniper.

Wouldn't surprise him if a few of his past crimes, the ones that had supposedly been wiped out, made a reappearance.]

I don't have anything outside SHIELD. Burned those bridges a long time ago.

Human nature doesn't change just because of the surroundings.

[If he wasn't useful, then no-one had a reason to stick around. Another lesson he'd learnt long ago.]

You better! That man has sinned against humanity. I know I'm going to extra careful if the Professor ever asks to see any of my trading cards.

[Good. Coulson hates it when a friendship ends by snapping the other fellows neck.]

Ah yes. I almost forgot it was the holidays approaching. Well, we'll just have to see when we can get time.

Well, he's certainly sinned against me... He already owes me enough without this...travesty.

....Basically.

[He turns and show Rogue the ledger.]

This is mine, only it's blank. Even has the repaired tear on the back cover it got during a stapling incident.

[And by stapling incident he means full on fight with various stationary objects against a target during an undercover op. Blood stains don't show up on black leather that well, interestingly enough.]
