somethingtoavenge: don't make me call fury (you are in trouble)

[Action]

[Phil is quiet as Clint explains careful to keep his face smooth and non-judgmental. After Clint' last comment Coulson leans back in the chair, mindful of wings and gathers his thoughts.

Then he leans forward and meets Clint's eyes. There is something firm and implacable about his gaze now, coupled with the faintest hint of disappointment and a larger dash of authority. Phil is now Agent Coulson, the man whose authority is second only to Director Fury's. While Clint is both an asset and a friend, in this moment only, Coulson is his boss. The one who can give gentle reprimand and bolstering reassurances.]

Your reaction, while not unjustified was very bad. There is a reason why thinking before acting is important in SHIELD. I understand that we had given you leeway in that training because of your above average situational instincts.

Given that you received the news of what happened while not on a mission, I can understand your breaking of the truce. Don't do it again.

As for your actions... You know what you did wrong. While no backup is hardly unusual for you, the lack of recon is a dangerous oversight. It's what allowed a child to see what happened.

I am not happy that Loki injured you, but I am even more unhappy that your own recklessness allowed it to happened. Be that as it may how are your arms?

[Because, even after everything, Coulson still cares about his agents.]
