Debrief 005 | [Action] | Spock and Phil's Excellent Adventure | Backadated to the 2nd
[Well, that had been an eventful time. Phil isn't quite sure he likes the Malnosso so much. Not that he had any real affection for them before this adventure.
Shaking his head he sits up and looks around. Everything is huge and unfamiliar. He blinks, looking around curiously. So, he's inside someone's room, but not one he is familiar with. Well, that leaves a lot of possibilities.
He gets up onto all fours, and start to walk, searching for something familiar. It is a moment before that fact fully registers. When Phil does realize he's walking on all fours he pauses before looking down.
Black paws greet him and he wants to be surprised, but in remembering what happened, he isn't. Phil cranes his head and catches sight of a long black tail twitching. So, he's a cat.
He has to see this for himself. A quick search turns up a mirror up on a wall above a dresser, which he reaches with effortless jumping. Once able to see himself his ears go back and his tail switches.]
A kitten?
[He had been expecting the cat part, but taking in the dainty, slightly unfinished features and small stature Phil realizes he is, in fact, a young cat not a fully grown cat.
His coat is a solid black, short-haired and sleek. Gold-green eyes peer at the mirror cat curiously. A flutter from over his shoulder attracts Phils attention then. It appears his wings are still there. The movement of his wings seems to have moved something... A small tag tied around his neck with thin string falls in to the front. It seems unadorned, but he bats at it for a moment, intrigued by its movement before realizing what he was doing. His playing revealed writing on one side, but it had come to rest text side down again. Phil gives a small huff before looking at himself in the mirror again.]
I look like Salem with wings...
[And isn't that just a lovely thought? But first things first he needs to get back to his agents. Now where is the owner of this room. Phil is thinking on that when he spots the figure on the bed behind him. Whoops, hadn't seen them before...
They appear to be sleeping. How to get their attention... Well, maybe he'll just call out. Hopefully, whoever they are, they aren't a heavy sleeper. ...And hopefully their first instinct isn't to attack either.]
Excuse me?
[Spock blinks awake at the sound...
It seems he can see again, that is most satisfactory. Spock looks around for the source of the sound... and his eyes land on a black kitten...
... His head tilts in curiosity... He had recognized that voice. The Vulcan lifts himself from the bed and approaches the tiny cat.]
May I help you?
[Oh good. At least the other man had woken up pretty much right away. Made things simpler-wait. That was a familiar voice and face. Phil rack his memory for a moment before recalling the name.]
Ah, yes. Mr. Spock, right? I'm... Well, I am Phil Coulson. We talked over the journals a bit.
[Phil's tail curls around his paws.]
I've just returned from ...enjoying the company of the Malnosso. They turned me into ...this. I would like to get home, but I have no idea where I am, nor can I leave this room.
[Because the door is shut. And he's a cat. With paws and no thumbs. Doors? Doors are kinda beyond him at the moment.]
Would you help me?
[Spock listens intently... ] Of course I will assist you Mister Coulson.. [Spock's eyes are drawn to the collar around the kitten's... Phil's neck. And since Spock is rather fond of cats, he simply reaches out to examine the tag....and turns it around.
There is an address.] If this is where you live, I will take you there. [Spock goes to his closet to start gathering his winter gear...]
[Spock's almost immediate agreement to help Phil is a relief. His tail uncurls from around his paws and lays flat, the very tip twitching around.]
Thank you.
[Of course, Spock reaching for the tag surprises Phil slightly, and his ears twitch backwards before returning to a relaxed state. He let's the other man examine the tag, mildly distracted by Spock's fingers. It feels nice where they brush against the fur on his neck.
...Being a cat is weird, Phil decides, shaking that mildly disquieting thought from his head.]
If it's Community House 5, floor 5, then yes it should be my address.
[He watches curiously as Spock starts to gather his winter clothing. The movement of the clothing is distracting... He crouches down, watch the movement carefully, tail swishing in interest.]
[Spock finishes by innocently tying his boots....]
[The movement of the laces is the most distracting. Before Phil can think about it (rationally) he's off the dresser and attacking Spock's boots. Of course he realizes what he's doing pretty much right away and immediately backs off, ear's flicking sideways, tail lashing.]
...Sorry...
[It appears there were more downsides to being a cat than being small and unable to open doors. Wonderful.]
[Spock gives Phil a subtle look of amusement and scoops up the little kitten in his gloved hands and into the cradle of his arms... and out the door.
Spock did say he was fond of cats...]
[Phil is startled by Spock's picking him up. He wasn't sure what he was expecting Spock to do, maybe just open the door an accompany him, but being carried wasn't on the list. It probably should have been though, all factors considered. However, once the initial surprise has worn off, Phil settles into the hold, looking around curiously from his new vantage point.]
[Action in the Village]
[Departing from House 2, the duo trek on towards Community House 5. It is quite the long walk, but at least it's not snowing, though the weather is gray and overcast. The shortest route takes them by the plaza and past Good Spirits, Seventh Heaven, the Clinic, the Item Shop, the Welcome center, and by the side of Community House 4. If your character is out and about this rather gloomy morning, you may see the curious sight of Spock holding a small black kitten. Might as well ask what's going on, or maybe you just want to pet the kitten. It is rather cute after all.
Later still
After walking through the village, Spock and Phil finally arrive at Community House Five. Residents of floor five, are you ready for Coulson's return in the arms of Spock? Though not in a form any will recognize...]
((ooc: TUNE IN NEXT TIME FOR THE AWARD-WINNING SOAP OPERA 'FLOOR FIVE AND IT'S RESIDENTS'!! Sorry I had to.
Anyways, Coulson has returned from his mallynap. As a small black kitten. Yup. He'll remain so for about a week and a half. So enjoy the kitten SHIELD agent while you can.
Oh and, if residents of House two want to get in on the action, feel free to run into Spock and Phil before they leave the house.))

While he waits, he absently scratches the kitten under the chin....]
Re: [Action]
[Action]
Instead he purrs, enjoying the touch and his eyes slide half-closed.
There is something he should.... something he.... something...]
[Action]
After a moment though, he pushes himself to his feet and heads over to the door, opening it a crack, knowing Natasha will have his back.]
Hi?
Re: [Action]
Greetings. I am Spock.
I am here because I was escorting Mister Coulson to his place of residence... who has returned from a recent kidnapping. [Spock scoops the kitten out from his arm and holds him in his hands for Clint to see...]
He appeared in my room in this form... Once again the Malnosso have proven their tendency to render high inconvenience on those who reside in Luceti....
Re: [Action]
[Natasha's ears catch the name uttered in the unfamiliar voice and she's instantly at Clint's back, her head peeking over his shoulders and widening the faintest bit at the sight of who is across the threshold.
She's not sure which is more shocking, the fact that there's a Vulcan outside their door, or that he's holding a kitten he claims is their handler.
She feels a little silly about stating the obvious, but...]
That's... a cat.
[Action]
Oh, look. It's his agents.
...Wow, this is even more embarrassing than being sick.]
He's not lying. I really don't think I like the Malnosso.
[Phil hisses slightly, thinking back to the Malnosso.]
[Action]
He glanced over at Natasha.]
I think they put something in the water at the hot springs. I am so not sending them a fruit basket of gratitude.
Re: [Action]
...They do not believe him?]
You believe this to be a drug induced illusion? I can assure you then, that such in not the case in this scenario. [Spock once again secures the tiny kitten in his arms...
He was not inclined to leave Phil with these people...] May I inquire as to your names?
Re: [Action]
[Natasha rolls her eyes, because this is really probably not time for Clint's sense of humor, but Spock was here with a feline version of Coulson and today... could not get any weirder. Not that she was hoping to jinx it or anything. Really.
Instead, she bent until she was eye-level with her handler and gave him a rueful smile. Because as far-flung as this was, she was fairly certain that was her boss.]
I'm relieved to report that your specialist is still an idiot, Sir. Welcome back. Sort of.
[And then Spock was addressing them again and Clint's sense of humor had clearly gone over his head, so she tried for polite and friendly instead, because the man had just rescued their boss and they owed him for that, at least. She held out her hand in greeting, giving him a smile.]
Natasha Romanoff. This is Clint Barton.
[Action]
Very funny.
[Whoops. Spock moved him again and now he's back in Spock's arms, which is a more comfortable perch than before. Still, the transitions between arms, mid-air and arms again is disconcerting.
Phil eyes Natasha's smile, recognizing it as a friendly gesture even as his instincts gave a small warning of threat. This observation is pushed aside as he realizes that Natasha's red hair is now a shade gray. A paw reaches out, cat's curiosity mingling with human surprise, to bat at a lock. Then Phil realizes exactly what he just did and tucks his paw back.]
Ah. It's good to be back. In some form at least.
[Some form with extremely annoying instincts and weird senses. Like in inability to see the color red. Well, you learn something new everyday...]
Nice to know somethings haven't changed.
[He sits through the introductions, tail curling into a little question mark even as his ears prick forwards.]
((ooc; I have more Coulson icons and more kitty Coulson icons, but I can't find my card to get him a paid account. /sighs))
[Action]
You've just shown up with a talking cat claiming that it's my boss. I think drug induced hallucination is one of the least weird things I could be considering.
[Admittedly, it does sound pretty much like Coulson. Clint bends down and grins at him because this, this is kind of hilarious.]
I'm hurt, boss. You're always telling me to consider the most plausible things first.
Re: [Action]
Both eyebrows go up when Coulson makes an abortive move to presumably play with her hair.
Fascinating.
Then Spock finds himself wanting to backup because now both agents were talking to Coulson up-close...
However, he does not give up his hold on the kitten and addresses the two agents once more...]
It is well to make your acquaintance Miss Romanoff... Mister Barton. [He looks at the outstretched hand... and takes it in his own gloved one. Spock finds the leather gloves that Zevran provided him with for Christmas most satisfactory.
Spock does notice though... that he is still standing out in the hall...]
Re: [Action]
Spock's handshake is firm and she returns it before releasing him, but she doesn't miss the flicker of his expression and realizes the reason for it at almost the same moment he does.
She flicks a glance sideways at Clint, something unspoken passing between them, assessing. This is Clint's home after all. And Coulson's, but he's a cat. Natasha's pretty sure that's enough to excuse him from playing host.]
Why don't you come in and make yourself comfortable? I apologize for the mess. We just got back. [She nudges a bag out of the way with her foot as she steps back to give him room to enter, a wry smile curving across her lips.]
[Action]
Phil doesn't fail to notice they are still out in the hall as well, but decides he'll let his agents take the lead in this case. Everything is more awkward now that's he's a kitten.
Of course Natasha's comments about just coming back make his ears perk forward.]
Oh? Where have you two been?
[Action]
[He catches Natasha's gaze and raised an eyebrow for a moment before shrugging and stepping aside to let them into the house. It was kind of Coulson's house too. Even if Coulson was a cat right now.]
Went up to the mountains. Camping.
Re: [Action]
He takes a cursory look around and faces them once more...]
Are you equipped to keep a kitten? [Spock looks down at the kitten still in his arm...]
Your new form will require you to take certain measures... that are perhaps contrary to your original nature. [That was Spock-speak for 'you're going to have to do stuff that you're not going to like..."]
Re: [Action]
[Her tone is droll as she motions to the couch in invitation for Spock and the cat, moving to perch on the arm of it herself. His question earns him an arch of an eyebrow, her lips twitching in amusement.]
We weren't this morning, no, because we weren't expecting to have one. But we can make provisions in the meantime. What do you think, sir. Is this easier or more difficult than being sent back as a small child?
[A pause as she considers something else, impish humor lighting up green eyes.] Are you litter trained, sir?
[Action]
Really? Wilderness survival training? The things you two do when I'm not here....
[Phil's ears go back at Spock's statement to him. Oh hell. Litter boxes. ...Kill him now. He hisses and manages to look very put out.]
Wonderful.
I think a small child would have been preferable. I'd still have thumbs and no new instinct or senses to get used to.
[A glance at Natasha's now disconcertingly gray hair and a lash of his tail.
Of course her next question would make him blush, if he was human. Instead get a very put out kitten, hissing at you Natasha.
Oh, he is so very pissed at the Malnosso now.]
[Action]
[He nudges her shoulder lightly and then glances up at Spock, his expression darkening a little at the implication.]
We're more than prepared to take care of Coulson. [He is perhaps a little defensive when it comes to their boss. Who could blame him?]
Re: [Action]
Spock becomes equally defensive...cradling the kitten gently in his arms, with one hand on his head, encouraging the hissing kitten to calm by rubbing circles there.]
You claim that you can take care of Mister Coulson, yet you have clearly made him upset with your words and disregard of his humanity.
[Spock addresses Coulson..] I would be amenable to taking care of you until you return to human form.
Re: [Action]
Neither one of us tend to disregard anything Coulson says or does. [The reply is mild, but there's a firmness behind her words. Her lips quirk faintly as she decides perhaps she should amend that for the sake of honesty.] Until we need to, of course, but he usually trusts our judgement to a certain extent. I apologize if our making light of the situation has given you the wrong impression. It's a humor we tend to fall back on instinctively in times like this.
[Not that they had many times quite like this to compare them to. Then again, during their stay in Luceti 'ridiculous' and 'impossible' were being redefined on a daily basis.
She turned her gaze to Coulson then, her expression serious.] Whatever you'd prefer to do, sir, we'll work around it.
[Action]
[He's not touching the comment about Christmas calories.
And suddenly there is a fight brewing in the wind.
Oh dear.
But the head rubbing. Coulson calms quickly, already having started to calm but the head rubbing was gloriously soothing.
He stays quiet as Natasha explains the situation.
At Spocks suggestion he looks as thoughtful as a cat can be.
Then he shakes his head slightly before speaking.]
Thank you for the offer Mr. Spock, but I would like to be in my home for the duration of my time as a cat.
[But Spock has been very helpful. Coulson leans and rubs his head against Spock's arm. After a moment thought, he makes an offer:]
If you like you can come visit at any time.
[The 'to check on me' was pretty much silent, even as Coulson shoots Clint a silent look, which is probably less effective as a cat but basically meant 'please don't complain'.]
[Action]
[It's only Natasha's hand on his shoulder that keeps him from taking a swing at Spock. How dare he assume anything about their relationship with Coulson. He barely even knows Coulson when him and Nat have known him for years. It's just made worse when the guy keeps stroking Coulson, making him calm down and Clint hates it.]
Go to hell. You don't know anything about us.
[He catches the look that Coulson gives him and gets the meaning even though he hates it.]
It's your apartment too Sir.
Re: [Action]
He looks down at Coulson...]
I am amenable to that suggestion... I will see you soon Mister Coulson. [He gives the cat one more pat on the head before looking again at the two agents.]
I will hand you over to Miss Romanoff at this time. [Spock, pointedly not answering Clint, hands the kitten over to Natasha.
And as much as Spock would have liked to have stayed... he could also tell that he was not welcome by all...]
I will take my leave...
